The 2025 Tin Workshop is full. If you are interested in taking the class, please sign up for the waiting list to be the first to be contacted for the 2026 class.

Introduction to the Art of Tinning is designed to provide a beginning knowledge of the 18th & 19th century tinning using manual construction tools and techniques. A brief history of the tinsmith trade will be covered during an illustrated talk.

The fee for the class is $200.00 for Non-members, $185.00 for Members + $40 materials fee.

Students will be able to construct several reproduction items including a candle holder, wall sconce, typical punched-tin pie cabinet panel, one pint mug, etc. Starting with basic layout and pattern making, we will walk through the cutting, forming, and assembly of a project. Projects are based on period designs, using traditional tools and methods. All tools and materials are included for the workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring examples of tin ware as well as tools for examples, discussion and possible use.

The class is taught by "Tinman" Roy and Sharon Phillips, and Apprentice John Boburchuk.

Schedule for the workshop is Saturday and Sunday, 8:00am to ~5:00pm both days.
